Actress Tea Leoni was at the Hampshire House yesterday, where she spoke about UNICEF’s work in earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Leoni, who spends a portion of each summer in Dartmouth, is the third generation of her family to work with children around the world. Her grandmother, Helenka Pantaleoni, helped found what is now the US Fund for UNICEF, and her father, Harvard alum Anthony Pantaleoni, currently serves as chairman of the board. (Tea, whose husband is “X-Files’’ actor David Duchovny, also serves on the board and has been a UNICEF ambassador since 2003.) Yesterday’s event was cochaired by Tiffany Ortiz, wife of Sox slugger David Ortiz, and KG’s wife, Brandi Garnett, and attended by Esta Epstein, wife of Celts co-owner Bob Epstein. Leoni thanked the Celts for their contribution to UNICEF’s Haiti relief effort. “These young children think what they are going through can’t be seen by the rest of the world,’’ she said, “and for this team in their six-foot and seven-foot state to stand up for these kids, to literally show these young children that people are thinking of them, is so important.’’ The C’s are hosting another UNICEF fund-raiser for Haiti next week at the House of Blues, but because Leoni won’t be able to make it, she taped a short video yesterday thanking the team for their generosity. There was one catch: “David asked that when I congratulate the Celtics that I ask that they take it easy on the Knicks.’’
